Don’t Give Up

Usually when we embark in a new venture we feel excited, hopeful, and sure that it is going to be a success but things are not always going according to our expectations and it can become very challenging to keep the momentum and our positive attitude towards it. We discover that there is a lot more to it than what we initially thought and we get discouraged and start having feelings of incapability and it can look like an impossible situation if we start listening to this little negative voice telling us that it is impossible, that we are wasting our time and better quit.

I have experienced this myself over and over again and sometimes I go through these ups and downs. I see it happen and the next day it looks impossible and I want to give up. I get impatient, I want to see quick results, I feel that I am not able or don’t know enough to make it happen. Sometimes it appears insurmountable but next day I can visualize a positive outcome and get inspired again. I don’t know if others feel the same way but this is what happens to me, specially, when I am trying to do something I never did before where I feel challenged and have to learn new things and overcome mind blocks to get to the desired results.

Through these experiences I learned some valuable lessons that really worked for me and maybe they will also work for you if you sometimes encounter these same difficulties in your life. The first thing to remember is not despair or give up your dream.

One thing that helps me a lot is to refocus my attention to the initial idea, remembering how excited I felt and keeping that emotion in my heart and recapture that vision in my mind. When I do this I start immediately seeing the mountains melting away and the vision that makes it all possible coming back.

Another thing that helps me a lot is to gain more knowledge about the matter in order to feel more confident. Lack of confidence can be an obstacle to achieving our goals, because of that it is important that I learn all that I can and need so I can feel confident and secure in my endeavour. Lack of knowledge can in fact be a very discouraging obstacle to achieving our dreams, but remember that there isn’t anything that can’t be learned if we decide in our minds to do it.

Another big block to our success is disorganization and time management. If I don’t plan things well and manage my time wisely I end up busy all the time but not really doing the most important things in order to make progress and accomplish my goals. I learned to alot a certain amount of time for everything I have to do and stick to it even when I am tempted to do more of what I enjoy and postpone the things that are more tedious. In fact I am learning to do the most unpleasant things first, so they are out of my mind, and I can relax more doing what I like best.

My believe system can shift from one moment to another according to my mood and if I get into a negative mood everything looks like a huge mountain, but if I get inspired all mountains melt away and there isn’t absolutely anything that is not possible. Sometimes little things trigger negative thoughts and my outlook starts to change making things apear more difficult. I realize that it helps if I just acknowledge what it is that caused it and try to move away from there. To do that I make a decision to choose to think positive thoughts, thoughts that are aligned with the fulfilment of my desires and dreams and it always works. The power of positive thoughts is amazing.

I discover that to keep my dream alive and continue to keep my vision and focus, it helps if I read inspirational material, material that motivates me to keep on believing, have faith and the certainty that nothing is impossible, and for as long as I keep my mind firm on that all the obstacles seem easy to overcome and I am always able to envision a positive and fulfilling outcome.

Keep Calm

If we could have more faith and trust at times when conflicting situations arise, if we could pause and be silent instead of impulsively react, if we could be patient and hold our tongue a little longer, if we could listen more, if we could trust and not worry and let our fears rule our minds. When we step aside and keep the calm, we’ll avoid so much regret, pain and waste of our precious energy that could be used for more constructive and loving things.

Resistance to things we don’t like, that bother us, that cause us to be upset, worried angry and aggravated with others only stop our progress and take away our happiness, besides depleting us of our precious energy so needed to accomplish our goals and purpose in life. We also lose our focus and vision when we get caught in this trap and stop ourselves from making progress in what really matters.

But worse of all is that when we overreact, get frustrated and upset with others, showing our resistance and overpower, we are actually giving more strength to the very thing that we are fighting against. Every time we resist something we are giving it more power and strength, we are attracting what we don’t want into our lives, and losing our focus and energy so needed for the things that really count in our life

In the other hand if we are positive, demonstrating our faith in people and situations we are preserving our precious energy and strength for the things that really matter and at the same time keeping our life happier and free from attracting unwanted things.

When we learn to trust and flow with situations that usually cause us stress, getting angry at people or trying to push things our way, we realize that having peace and harmony is more precious than anything else and matters tend to solve themselves while at the same time we keep our inspiration and happiness  and preserve our energy. By keeping this trustful attitude we’ll recognize that things are not as bad as we thought they were and change our outlook and the way we perceive things.

Try this to avoid arguments:

Breath deeply and count to ten

Keep silent and listen to the other person

Never interrupt the other person

Don’t judge

Don’t formulate answers in your mind while the person is talking

Be open to other possibilities

Be willing to admit you are not always right

Be positive and expect the best.

Finding Balance

We are all so busy and have so many things to attend every day that more that often we neglect the most important thing – ourselves. From our family life to our work and social commitments, we keep ourselves so involved and let our life be absorbed by so many things that we lose touch with the real life we so desire and the deepest needs of our being. We go from one project to another, one chore to another and sometimes without realizing it our inspiration starts to lack and soon we find ourselves unhappy, without motivation and our patient starts growing thinner and thinner and soon we find ourselves miserable and cause everyone around us to be miserable as well.

The secret is to make sure that you find the balance between your obligations, you work and your spiritual needs.  You are not only physical, but  also a spiritual being  and you need to take care of those spiritual needs as much as you do the physical ones. It easy for us to see the need to eat and satisfy the needs of the body, but most of the time we neglect the spiritual ones like:  relaxing, meditating, reading or just spending quite time with yourself and keeping the balance between work and play.

Most of us like to do all that we need to do first and then relax, we tell ourselves –“ ok, I am going to do this and that and the other and then I am going to feel so good and relaxed when I stop” – but the fact  is that it does not work this way, specially, if you are a perfectionist you’ll always see something else that needs to get done and  the work never really ends. You just go from one think to another until you realize that your time to rest has passed and postpone it for next day and the same will probably happen tomorrow.

To keep the balance in your live is only possible if you make it happen, make it a sacred thing and schedule it, giving it the same importance as your work or even more, because when you are happy relaxed and inspired you can be more productive in all other areas, so it is vital to give it due importance by making sure you don’t pass one day without giving it attention and make it happens. You need it as much as eating or sleeping.

If you are not an organized person by nature the first thing you need to do is to work in that area of your life and become more organized. Learn to plan and an d make sure you follow that plan, if you don’t do that you’ll never find time to do the things you would like and need to keep you healthy, balanced and happy. Remember it is important you plan and organize yourself well, but you have to strictly make it work or it will fall apart and you’ll find yourself on the same old routine.

Often we take lots of free time but we don’t really relax because we are so disorganize and out of focus that we don’t give priority to the things we have to do in the first place and then we feel guilty and unable to enjoy that free time. So please schedule things in a way that you do what you have to do. Work when is time to work and play when is time to play, than you can really enjoy life and your free time.

Whether you are a perfectionist or a disorganized person you can do try this little plan:

1)   Make a schedule where you include 2 hours a day for yourself.(Can be divided in two or three slots) Meditate and think of nothing for 30 minutes, read something that you like, listen to music, just do whatever you like.

2)   Be strict with the time spending in front of the TV or time wasted in the computer. These time wasters live you empty and uninspired (do it in moderation for a schedule time only)

3)   When you work put all your heart into it, focus, and apply yourself to do it well, refuse getting distracted with anything else.

4)   If you have lots of things to do, prioritize and do the most important ones first.

5)   Prioritize your personal time and never keep it for later. It is a good investment, you’ll be happier and more focused to do your work

6)   Make time for you and your family always, work when is time to work and play when is play time.

7)   Plan your time well and keep things as much as possible according to the plan.

Keeping your life in balance is not only important, it is the best thing you can do. You’ll notice the difference it will make when you get to the end of the day and you look back with satisfaction and you feel that indeed it was a good day. You’ll feel that you accomplished something and that life is worth living.
